Relationships between nutrient digestibility, β-glucan content and ileal digesta viscosity in pigs fed different Australian barley cultivars. Moscow: NITs Inzhener Publ., 1988, 445 p. Eksperimental’naya khirurgiya (Experimental surgery). ![]() The data obtained suggest that the true availabilities for amino acids absorption in small intestine must be considered for pigs when using diets with a predominance of that cereals, in which these amino acids are limiting, and their availability is in the range of 60-70%. The third limiting amino acid is isoleucine for barley and rye, leucine for wheat, threonine for corn, histidine for oats, methionine + cystine for triticale. For corn, the second limiting amino acid is tryptophan (score 40%). The first limiting amino acid for all grains is lysine, his score was low (32-67%), the second is threonine (sсore 69-98%) for all cereals except maize. The true averaged availability for absorption of most essential amino acids was higher than apparent availability of corn, wheat and barley by 11.2 8.2 and 8.2% respectively. The trials were performed on 24 piglets at the age of 2-4 months by groups-periods latin square scheme using cannula installed in the lower portion of the ileum. The aim was to estimate the availability of essential amino acids for absorption in small intestine for grain of 6 cereals taking into account the input of endogenous amino acids. ![]()
